What Asteryn is, and is not
Asteryn writes astrological readings and hosts a conversational guide. Its readings and its replies are generated by an AI model, Google Gemini. Asteryn is not a therapist, a counselor, or a crisis service, and nothing it produces is medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice.
How the guide handles distress
The guide is instructed, on every message, that when someone is in distress it should set astrology aside, share crisis resources including the numbers above, and step back rather than keep the conversation going. An AI model does not always follow its instructions. If the model's own safety filters stop a reply, Asteryn shows those resources in its place.
Every message sent to the guide is also scanned automatically for crisis language. A match saves a private excerpt for later review; it does not change or block the reply.
This is automated, not human monitoring. Nobody reads your messages as you send them, and no one is watching a live queue. Automated screening can miss things, and it can flag things that were never about harm. It is a safety net, not supervision. What is kept, and for how long
When a message triggers the screening, Asteryn saves a short excerpt of that message, and sometimes of the reply, at most 500 characters of each, so they can be reviewed later to improve how the system responds. There is no set schedule for that review. These excerpts are private, visible only to the founder, and are erased automatically after about 90 days, or straight away if you delete your account.
Who can use Asteryn
Asteryn is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and it is not designed or intended for children.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account yourself at any time. In the app, open You, then Clear Data, then Delete Account. It takes effect straight away and erases your profile, your chart, your conversations, and any saved excerpts.
