Consumer health data.

Why this page is separate
Washington's My Health My Data Act requires a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. This is Asteryn's. It covers the Asteryn app, which is wider than our privacy notice for this website.
What health related data Asteryn handles
Asteryn is an astrology app, not a health app, and it does not ask for health information. It still handles some, so this notice covers it.
Every message you send to the guide is screened automatically for signs of crisis, by Asteryn's servers and by Google Gemini's safety filters. If Gemini's filters stop a reply, the app shows crisis resources in its place. The screening is created automatically from messages you send, and it infers something about a person's state of mind, so it counts as processing consumer health data. Asteryn saves nothing from it about you: no excerpt, no label, and no record linked to your account. Asteryn keeps only a monthly count of how often the screening fired and how often crisis resources were shown, which holds no account, name, or conversation details.
Your conversations with the guide, and the notes it keeps about you to remember your context, can also hold health information if you choose to share it there. Asteryn uses them to reply to you, to remember your context, and to run the screening described above. They stay with your account until you delete them or delete your account.
Before September 30, 2026, Asteryn saved a record of each screening (an excerpt and a label) for the founder to review. Those records, related audit log entries, and the per-account counters they fed are being deleted.
Why it is handled
The screening exists to show crisis resources to someone who needs them. The monthly count lets Asteryn see whether that is changing and report it where the law requires. Your conversations and notes exist to reply to you. None of it is used for advertising, sold, or shared with data brokers.
Who sees it, and who processes it
Asteryn stores its data with Google Cloud (Firebase). Messages you send to the guide are processed by Google Gemini, the AI model that writes Asteryn's replies, under Google's terms. We do not share consumer health data with anyone else, except the service providers named here or where the law requires it. Asteryn has no affiliates.
How long it is kept
The screening itself keeps nothing about you. Your conversations and the guide's notes stay until you delete them, or are deleted straight away if you delete your account. Asteryn keeps no backup copies of its database; earlier versions of deleted data expire within an hour.
Your rights
You can ask whether Asteryn holds health data about you, ask for a copy of it, ask for a list of the third parties and affiliates it was shared with, and ask us to delete it. Deleting your account deletes it straight away: in the app, open You, then Clear Data, then Delete Account. For any other request, email jeremy.asteryn@gmail.com from the email address on your account, so we can confirm the request is yours. We will respond within 45 days of a request we can verify. If we need more time, we will tell you, and may take up to 45 more days.
If we decline a request, you can appeal by replying to that email, and we will answer the appeal in writing within 45 days. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General.
No sale, and no geofencing
Asteryn does not sell consumer health data, and does not place a geofence around any place where health care is provided.
